Giving working dogs a second chance.
Placing Belgian and Dutch Shepherds into working homes across the Midwest
Adopting is one of the best things you can do.
Belgian and Dutch Shepherds end up in rescues and shelters for being themselves: high energy, driven dogs looking for a job, any job to do. We have successfully placed dogs in working homes of all kinds: Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Corrections, Sport, and Service Work.

Stitch
Stitch
Belgian Malinois

Stitch can be nervous around new people, but warms up quickly, and once he does he loves to be petted.  He is neutered and his vaccinations are up-to-date.

He loves his crate.  When something frightens him he retreats to the safety of his crate, either in the house or in the car.   He does have barrier reactivity – he doesn't like other dogs near his crate.  Outside of the crate, though, he's fine with everyone else, and has no resource guarding.

He like food and a ball, but praise is the most important thing to him.

Very friendly, did well with other dogs and had no issues with handling. Knows sit.

Very treat motivated. Prefers food over a ball.

Violet
Violet
Dutch Shepherd

Violet is a 4-year-old Dutch Shepherd looking for her forever home.  She is fully vetted, healthy, and a pleasure to work with. Violet has a strong food drive, loves to learn, and is naturally handler-focused and compliant. She is social with people without being pushy and has lived peacefully in a foster home with multiple dogs, showing no dog aggression.

Violet particularly enjoys nose work, scent games, and problem-solving. She is learning basic commands and progressing well, is clean and quiet in her kennel, and has good house manners. She has a nice balance of drive and an off-switch—happy to work and engage, then able to relax calmly.

This sweet girl would make an excellent introduction to dog sports, a great Junior Handler prospect, or an active companion who enjoys having a job. Her foster is even willing to start her in AKC or UKC scent work.

Violet is currently located in Missouri. If you’re interested in meeting her or learning more, please reach out and help us find this amazing dog the home she deserves.

Marvin
Marvin
GSD/Malinois Mix

Marvin is an adult Shepherd/Malinois mix who has been with our shelter for just over a year. He is a very intelligent, high-drive dog with a strong work ethic and excels in structured environments. Marvin knows sit, down, wait, speak, drop, and leave it; he has a high ball drive, enjoys nose work, and has fairly reliable recall (though he can become distracted). He works well with familiar handlers and shelter staff.

Marvin does struggle with strangers and requires time and proper introductions. He has shown a tendency to fixate on people or objects (standing and staring without immediate reaction), and we are actively working with trainers to redirect his behavior before escalation. His primary challenge is reactivity to sudden or unexpected movement from unfamiliar people. The shelter continues Marvin's behavior modification training.

We believe Marvin would be best suited for an experienced, adult-only home or a professional placement with someone familiar with working or protection-type breeds who is comfortable managing stranger sensitivity and reactivity.

Willa
Willa
German Shepherd

They call me Willa and tell me that I'm a special girl who deserves the world, but my troubled past makes me doubt that's true. I was on my own for at least 2.5 weeks before getting trapped and brought to the shelter; it's hard to go through something like that and not have trust issues.

Getting to the adoption floor has been a long time coming and I'm thankful for the staff who got me here but I'm ready for bigger and better things with someone who's love is true and won't give up when the going gets tough. I love wide open spaces, water, fetch, jolly balls and the wind in my fur. Once I know and trust you, you'll see the side of me that gets lost in the stress of the shelter and the uncertainty of a constantly changing environment. I don't love other dogs and I don't give my heart away easily but I promise I'm worth the time and the energy. (Oh and breed experience is a big plus in my book!)

Quebec
Quebec
GSD/Malinois

Ready, set, adventure! My name is Quebec but all of my closest friends call me Q. I'm a high energy girl looking to find a structed lifestyle in an experienced home that will exercise not only my body but also my mind. I've got mad ups (like literally, I can jump a 6 foot fence),

I like to stay active, I'm patient and I'm ready for some stability and commitment from the humans in my life. I'm friendly with cats but selective when it comes to other dogs. I love attention but might play hard to get when we first meet. There's no time like the present; let's change both our lives for the better!

Mitta
Mitta
Belgian Malinois

I guess you could say I haven't always thought the hand I was dealt was a fair one, but I've played my cards right and kept my paws crossed and that has brought me here to you. My name is Mitta and I'm ready for all four paws to be on steady ground in a place where I can truly belong.

I've got a playful spirit, an old soul and big brown eyes that have remained kind despite what they've seen. I'm still finding my place in this world and looking for an experienced, patient and loving human to hold the other end of my leash and see me through.

Mango
Mango
Belgian Malinois

Man, am I sick of being unemployed. My name is Mango and I show up early, stay late and don't complain about overtime, nights or weekends. I don't even need minimum wage; steady hard work and exercise will be the key to my happiness (I sure hope your throwing arm never tires).

I'm a driven and intense dog, loyal to a fault and ready to be rewarded with a love that lasts. If you're a first time dog owner, you'll need to keep scrolling and I mean that in the best way possible. I am not a dog for the faint of heart or ill experienced. The road I've traveled to get here hasn't always been easy and at times it was quite dark but I think I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
